'Depleted uranium' (= U-235 = nuclear waste) has not gone away. The U.S. military used thousands of tons in bombing and shelling Iraq I, Bosnia, and now Afghanistan and Iraq II. The stuff is as lethal to the shooters as it is to the shot-at, and equally lethal to anyone living anywhere near the battlefield, the manufacturing plant, or the testing grounds.
This introduction (or refresher course) features music by David Rovics; talk by KD, Army DU expert Doug Rokke, & journalist Dahr Jamail.
Produced at WWUH-FM, "Public Alternative Radio," at the University of Hartford. Feedback to kdowst@hotmail.com. Archival recordings courtesy of Dori Smith and Talk Nation Radio (Jamail) and Homeopathy Doctor and Traprock Peace Center (Rokke).
SERIES OVERVIEW -- Political and social commentary in a variety of genres. Exploring the gap between what we want ... and what they're trying to make us settle for.
