Sebastian Richie is an RAF historian and author of the 2011 book, Arnhem, Myth and Reality, Airborne Warfare, Air Power and the Failure of Operation Market Garden - in it he attempts to blow three great myths of operation Market Garden apart: 1 the RAF and USAF failed the ground forces (they did sterling work), 2, Market Garden was a brilliant strategic plan which was let down my shoddy tactical planning (it was a bad plan), 3. Airborne operations stand the same sort of chance of succeeding as any other operation (theyre much more risky)
