In his last years, socially-engaged comedian George Carlin seemed less angry, more resigned, and shrewd as ever as he observed American politics and culture rushing to hell in a handbasket. Our show presents some of Carlin's last performances and parts of an interview--plus a Carlin-like song by David Rovics.

The theme is B.S., America, and why the two make an especially bad combination. Prologue by K.D.

Class War Battlefield Podcast: Episode 33 - Are You in Denial, The Coming Age of Crisis (Grief Deliriousness and Many More Comments), Segment 1

When we look at the crisis facing our mother earth like that of a close relative facing death we come to see that our reactions recently to unsettling news pointing towards a cataclysmic future, as those experienced by someone wracked with grief. Our politicians lie to our faces about problems that, 30 years ago were uncertain, today are creating hell on Earth. In this podcast I give you a pep talk – more like a reality check on this coming crisis, bringing my generation to the table to face a startling fact, the previous generation holds little interest in solving these problems or dealing with the predicament we are in. What can be done about that? I don’t really have the answer – but I do have some comments you may find interesting. Enjoy!

All Time Top Ten: Episode 70 - Top Ten Rock N Roll Producers w/Michael Woodrum, Segment 1

Description:
Some of the biggest hitmakers in rock n roll history are not lead singers, guitar players, or songwriters, although many of this week's featured artists do all of these things and more. The great rock n roll producer works tirelessly behind the scenes, crafting ear candy for the masses. They are the glue that holds every great recording together, creating timeless sounds that make life worth living. Ben is on the road again this week, taping from Woodrum Productions Studios in beautiful downtown Burbank, CA. His guest is critically acclaimed producer Michael Woodrum, whose production credits include hundreds of artists from Snoop Dogg to Linkin Park to Eric Clapton. Ben and Michael talk about what it means to be a producer, talk about some of the greatest in rock and pop history, and play some tasty examples of their handiwork. Put on your knowledge bib, this is a meaty episode.

Michael's work in the studio can be further explored at his website: http://woodrumproductions.com/Michael_Woodrum_Home.html

Out of the Woods: Out of the Woods - Show #163 5-17-13, Segment 1

This version of the program is divided into 6 segments so broadcasters who desire to use this content can insert your station info, etc. The segments vary in length, but I try to keep them approximately 30 minutes in most cases.

Out of the Woods is an earthy, wires and wood, mostly acoustic program featuring some of the best new and established artists from the worlds of folk, bluegrass, singer-songwriters, alt.country, Americana, classic country, old-time, Celtic, and everything that falls in between. The show is an unpredictable mix flowing like a river between moods, often with an edge or in a melancholy minor key. On occasion, Out of the Woods features interviews and live in-studio performances with national and international touring musicians. Past guests have included artists such as Bela Fleck, Si Kahn, Brown Bird, Dana Robinson, Steve Gillette & Cindy Mangsen, Bill Bourne, Karl Shiflett, Rachel Bissex, Darryl Purpose, Bow Thayer, Cosy Sheridan and many others. Out of the Woods grew out of Jon 'Chip' Colcord's former acoustic programs, The Song Swap and Music For The Mountain, separate folk and bluegrass programs which aired in New Hampshire during the 1990s. As a child, Colcord grew up a ravenous music fan with an ear for both rock and folk, from Arlo Guthrie to Aerosmith. All of these influences converge on Out of the Woods to bring you a mix which is as much on the edge as it is down home. Folk music with a rock 'n' roll soul

Out of the Woods: Out of the Woods - Show #163 5-17-13, Segment 5

What does it mean to be a leader? According to Edward Bernays, the 'Father of Public Relations', the very role is synonymous with acting as a dictator. In this episode of the Smells Like Human Spirit Podcast, Guy Evans begins to break down Chapter 6 of Bernays' magnum opus 'Propaganda' - revealing the author's distorted view of leadership, and his widely shared belief that the public's apathy results in their own oppression. A great episode as ever so download, share with your friends, and peace!!!

Day 2 - Morning session on comprehensive research regarding effects and the levels of radiation exposure that protect industry but not the public and especially the fetus. Research on mutations and fetal death from contaminated food and cultural practice. Explanation of the assumptions built into the Hiroshima Long Term Survivors Study and the resultant underestimation of harm to humans. Analysis of the existential threat to the United States from the highly radioactive waste fuel stored in lightly constructed sheds at all reactor sites in the U.S. The potential for runaway fire due to coolant loss or an explosion event due to storage density is proportional to the extent that safety measures are suppressed for profits.
