Member of the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Sean Orr speaks of their delegation to Venezuela to investigate conditions on the ground and speak with various officials, community leaders and people about the conditions imposed by the U.S. Government's hostilities, and how they are countering them; the U.S. press blames the crisis on "failed" Socialism and President Maduro while the U.S. finds it necessary to ramp up its blockade, economic interference and attacks due to popular support for the Venezuelan Constitution by the majority of its citizens.
Timed to coincide with May Day celebrations Sean found himself in the mist of a coup attempt, along with his companions as they were guests of a government supporter, a university professor, who lived in an opposition neighborhood close to the military base where an attempt was made to seize tanks and other weapons.
He recounts what followed when the coup was announced from the street, on radio and TV, their escape toward the city center, what they saw and contrary to what CNN was reporting, what wasn't. When finally they arrived at the Presidential Palace they witnessed the crowds assembling in defense of their Bolivarian Revolution; he reports that his group, while not the only foreigners there, were the only Americans.
He mentions that the US Government has embargoed the shipment of insulin to Venezuela and China's efforts to provide an alternative supply.
