Kevin Zeese spoke to a group of peace and justice activists organized by Chicago Area Peace Action. He was in town as part of a multi state tour to raise funds for the trial defense of
the Embassy Protection Collective; a historic action by private citizens to defend International Law and the right of another nation to spend its wealth on housing, health and education for the majority of its citizens rather than allow it to be stolen by wealthy elites and foreign corporations; the real reason the CIA promotes coups abroad and at home.

There is, he says, a growing movement, at all levels, to break from the idea of a national defense policy based on conflict, coercion and war to one of diplomacy, cooperation and peace.

Kevin Zeese speaks of the campaigns that he is involved in to that end, and the work of Popular Resistance which, with his partner Dr.Margrett Flowers, is engaged in education and movement building around a national consensus. He speaks of how the much hyped "military parade" that Trump wanted was defeated.

Social movements have eight stages according to the Bill Moyers model of social struggle. That the corporate media, in collusion with the wealthy elites that own it underplay the successes won is not surprising he says. Often activists are unable to see what they have achieved, yet the Moyer's model explains that moment as but a specific stage in the struggle towards victory . History has shown that a successful movement needs only 3% support from the population to win.

During his talk he refers to his earlier presentation dealing with
the historic defense of the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington, D.C. by private citizens from the US Government's desperate efforts to legitimate the person it demanded would be Venezuela's new president in a lethal but harebrained coup plot that, still under way, remains harebrained and criminal.
