In the first of this two part program we heard that nearly 80 percent of the active ingredients of all brand-name and generic drugs as well as almost all antibiotics in the U.S. are made outside of the country without any effective oversight, mostly in China and India. There is growing evidence that many of these drugs can be ineffective at best or contain toxic ingredients.
