Global migration expert Oscar Chacon on the Root Causes of Latinx Migration and U.S. Foreign Policy
Oscar Chacon, Ex. Dir. of Alianza Americas, a network of migrant-led organizations working in the US and transnationally to create an inclusive, equitable and sustainable way of life for communities across North, Central and South America discusses the often overlooked structural constraint related to immigration patterns, that is the US political and economic involvement in the country of origin. This involvement is critically important for understanding Latinx migration flows to the US and for analyzing Vice President Harris trip to Guatemala and Mexico. Chacon also tackles the SCOTUS decision to deny many TPS beneficiaries the right to secure permanent residency visas without having to leave the US
