Phil interviews Tony Leah, Unifor Local 222 Political Action Committee Chairperson, about Max Blumenthalâs increasingly weird descent into COVID skepticism. Leah points out that Blumenthal claimed that the current pandemic is ânot really a left-right issueâ. Blumenthal mischaracterizes the opposition to vaccine mandates as âthe medical freedom movement worldwide ⦠one of the largest, most international and diverse movements â social movement and protest movement â of our time.â
Blumenthal has been promoting the âGreat Barrington Declarationâ and had two of its authors on his podcast. Despite his reputation for detailed investigative journalism, Max failed to mention during the 90 minute show that the Great Barrington Declaration was orchestrated and hosted by a right-wing libertarian think tank, the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER). The AIER promotes climate denialism (âBrazilians Should Keep Slashing Their Rainforestâ) and attacks Black Lives Matter as âZombie Marxismâ. Little wonder that one of Blumenthalâs guests claims that vaccine mandates are a ânew form of Jim Crowâ with not a word of dissent from Max.
