Thomas Mazzolini is the founder and producer of the San Francisco Blues Festival, the longest running festival of the blues in US History. Mr. Mazzolini has a wealth of knowledge about the blues as well as many stories over the decades having organized the SF Blues festivals as well as other performances around the nation and the world. His musical appreciation for the blues is evident in his long running blues show on KPFA radio station on Saturdays called, "Blues by the Bay" 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Mr. Mazzolini's other interests include film as he was a film critic for many years. He also is an artist and his work is part of an annual show. Mr. Mazzolini was kind to have taken some time to talk with Byrd about the blues legacy which includes forty years as a host of a blues radio show, thirty-six years as the producer of the SF Blues Festival and stories.
For his contribution to the blues as a producer, Mr. Mazzolini is a recipient of a W.C. Handy Award from the Blues Foundation in Memphis, TN.
