Your support is essential if the service is to continue, there are bandwidth bills to pay every month and failing disk drives to replace. Volunteers do the work, but disk drives and bandwidth are not free. We encourage you to contribute financially, even a dollar helps. Click here to donate.

Dr. Barbara Thompson is the Phyllis Wattis Curator for the Arts of Africa and the Americas for the Cantor Arts Center. She oversses the collection of African, precolombian, and Native American Art. Prior to her arrival at Stanford, Dr. Thompson was with the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. She organized ten exhibitions at the Hood, including "Black Womanhood: Icons, Images, and ideologies of the African Body."
Dr. Thompson kindly and generously brought a wonderful collection of music from around the world which contains references to Vodou and Mami Wata, a deity which has been worshipped over many centuries and who is the center of an exhibition at Cantor Arts on the Stanford Campus.

Information about the exhibition of Mami Wata at Cantor Arts may be found at http://museum.stanford.edu/news_room/mami_wata.html

Information about the exhibition on portraits of Vodou may be found at
