In July 2004 anti-racist researchers and activists toured Serbia, Romania, Ukraine and Poland to meet with refugees, migrants, and their advocates. Our goal was to understand better how people are moving across the eastern borders of Europe and how to support that movement.
This second program looks at the economy of Serbia and Romania, as these countries make the transition from centrally-planned socialist economies to gangster capitalism. Pharmaceutical workers, mostly women, occupy their factory in northern Serbia, while Romanian women juggle jobs to survive.
