Fourth program in series on labour and migration across the eastern borders of the European Union, focusing on Chinese, Arab and Roma shopkeepers in Timisoara (Romania), and Belgrade (Serbia-Montenegro), and South Asian students in Timisoara.

In July 2004 anti-racist researchers and activists toured Serbia, Romania, Ukraine and Poland to meet with refugees, migrants, and their advocates. Our goal was to understand better how people are moving across the eastern borders of Europe and how to support that movement.
This fourth program looks at three communities of migrants in Belgrade and Timisoara -- those Chinese, Arab and Roma shopkeepers working in markets of both cities, and South Asian students studying in Timisoara. Amidst profound insecurity and isolation, how are communities formed?
