Fifth program in series on labour and migration across the eastern borders of the European Union, focusing on situation of internally-displaced people from Kosovo, now living in camps in Serbia.
Written and produced by Kristin Schwartz -- kristin@ckln.fm Thanks to all guests, as well as organizers and participants of the Border04 tour and Peoples Global Action.
In July 2004 anti-racist researchers and activists toured Serbia, Romania, Ukraine and Poland to meet with refugees, migrants, and their advocates. Our goal was to understand better how people are moving across the eastern borders of Europe and how to support that movement.
This fifth program is dedicated to the testimonies of internally-displaced people, Serb and Roma, who fled from Kosovo in 1999. At a collective centre for refugees in the mountains outside of Belgrade, housed in a former psychiatric hospital, they shared their stories and their their frustration with broken promises of government and NGOs.
