Audio from a webinar sponsored by Workers World Party.

Description: Join us Friday, September 18, 2021 as part of the globally coordinated actions from September 18-26 defending Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homes and lands throughout Palestine, reclaim their properties and ensure restitution and reparations.

These days of action will mark the commemoration of the Sabra and Shatila massacres, the September 1970 massacres in Jordan, the signing of the Oslo agreements and the continuing attacks, including the current farce touted as a “peace initiative”, against the rights and struggle of Palestinian refugees for return and liberation. All of these U.S. supported efforts promote militarism and delay the potential for true peace in the region–peace based on justice and human dignity.

A statement signed by more than 50 organizations raised international solidarity with the demand: No Normalization with Occupation and Colonization. This webinar will discuss the ongoing struggles of the Palestinian people and how we can build solidarity together for the liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea.

Featuring (In order of first appearance):

Ted Kelly - An organizer with Workers World Party and active in Solidarity with the Palestinian Struggle

Charlotte Kates - International Coordinator of Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network and organizer with the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and Al-Awda, the Palestine Right to Return Coalition

Susan Abulhawa - Palestinian novelist, poet, and member of WWP and US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel

Khaled Barakat - Palestinian writer and activist whose work in Arabic and English has been widely published in a number of outlets, International Coordinator of the Campaign to Free Ahmad Sa'adat

Charlotte Kates' audio was at times a bit subpar from a technical standpoint, but not bad overall.

There are 2 versions of this webinar on the R4A server. Both versions are the full webinar (01:18:18), lightly edited for pacing and content, mostly removal of "um, uh, you know" and false starts. I didn't add my own intro/outro to either version:

Version 1: A -24 LUFS Mp3 suitable for RADIO PLAY. You may want to add an intro/outro.

Version 2: A -19 LUFS Mp3 suitable for downloading onto a computer or mobile device for INDIVIDUAL USE. Identical content to Version 1, but a louder file encoded at a lower bitrate so it takes up less space.

Would you like to:

1. Download all or part of the Essential Dissent archive in a few clicks via OneDrive?

2. Access my audio in .wav format, which is the highest quality and preferred if you do your own edits for later conversion to a different format?

3. Download episodes that have disappeared from R4A?

4. Access extras such as conference journals which give more detailed information about the presenters, panels and sponsoring organizations?

5. Continue doing all of the above even if R4A becomes defunct?

Send an email to wvought at gmail dot com, requesting the archive link. Include Essential Dissent Archive in the subject line.

If you’re affiliated with a radio station, please tell me your radio station’s call letters and the name of your show. If you’re a podcaster, please tell me the name of your podcast. And if you’re an end user who just wants to stream or download some interesting audio, that’s cool too.

The link will give you access to the Essential Dissent archive (including all subsequent episodes) for as long as the archive is available on OneDrive. (If I ever have reason to move the archive I'll send you the new link.)

A big advantage of this system is that if R4A ever stops working or vanishes altogether, I’ll still be able to post new episodes to the archive, and you’ll still be able to download them. In that case I'll send a notification when I post a new episode (but you can opt out of receiving notifications at any time).

You are welcome to share the link with others, but since I will then not have their email address they will not receive notifications, nor will I be able to send them a new link should that become necessary. It’s best to have them contact me to be added to my email list.

No spam, no fee, no BS, and I’ll remove your email address from my list upon request.
