From the organizers:

A PRESS CONFERENCE in support of drone war whistleblower Daniel Hale is scheduled for 10 AM on Saturday, July 17, 2021 on The High Line at 10th Avenue and W. 30th Street in Manhattan, the site of the new Sam Durant sculpture - "Untitled (drone)".

A choral presentation by the "Raging Grannies" will precede the press conference, and will start circa 9:45 AM.

Daniel Hale is facing sentencing on July 27, 2021 that could bring him 10 years in federal prison after he pled guilty to one charge under the Espionage Act for releasing government documents that revealed the gross human rights violations and war crimes of the U.S. killer drone program. More information on Daniel's case can be found at Stand with Daniel Hale:

This 2-minute plus video summarizes Daniel's situation and the deep public significance of his whistle-blowing action. It is representative of the many things that are being done to build public support for Daniel in a political case that is very much like the one facing Julian Assange, one that needs all the press attention that can be generated.

The press conference is sponsored by

Featured Speakers (in order of first appearance):

zool Zulkowitz, Organizer, Rising Together

Margaret Kimberley, Black Alliance for Peace

Jack Gilroy, Broome County Peace Action

Susan Schnall, member of the national board of Veterans For Peace (VFP) and President of the New York City VFP chapter

Debra Sweet, Director, World Can't Wait

Sara Flounders, Co-director, International Action Center

Sally Jones, President, Peace Action Fund of New York State

Abbie Zamcheck, Yemen Vigil for Peace, United Against War & Militarism

There are 3 versions of this press conference on the R4A server. Versions 1 and 2 are the full event, lightly edited for pacing and content, mostly removal of "um, uh, you know" and false starts. I didn't add my own intro/outro to either of them. Version 3 is a 58 minute radio-ready edit.

Version 1: A -24 LUFS Mp3 optimized for RADIO PLAY; full event (59:17)

Version 2: A -19 LUFS Mp3 optimized for downloading onto a computer or mobile device for INDIVIDUAL USE. Identical content to Version 1, but a louder file encoded at a lower bitrate so it takes up less storage space.

Version 3: A -24 LUFS 58 minute Mp3 optimized for RADIO PLAY. Includes my added intro/outro.

Would you like to:

1. Download all or part of the Essential Dissent archive in a few clicks via OneDrive?

2. Access my audio in .wav format, which is the highest quality and preferred if you do your own edits for later conversion to a different format?

3. Download episodes that have disappeared from R4A?

4. Access extras such as conference journals which give more detailed information about the presenters, panels and sponsoring organizations?

5. Continue doing all of the above even if R4A becomes defunct?

Send an email to wvought at gmail dot com, requesting the archive link. Include Essential Dissent Archive in the subject line.

If you’re affiliated with a radio station, please tell me your radio station’s call letters and the name of your show. If you’re a podcaster, please tell me the name of your podcast. And if you’re an end user who just wants to stream or download some interesting audio, that’s cool too.

The link will give you access to the Essential Dissent archive (including all subsequent episodes) for as long as the archive is available on OneDrive. (If I ever have reason to move the archive I'll send you the new link.)

A big advantage of this system is that if R4A ever stops working or vanishes altogether, I’ll still be able to post new episodes to the archive, and you’ll still be able to download them. In that case I'll send a notification when I post a new episode (but you can opt out of receiving notifications at any time).

You are welcome to share the link with others, but since I will then not have their email address they will not receive notifications, nor will I be able to send them a new link should that become necessary. It’s best to have them contact me to be added to my email list.

No spam, no fee, no BS, and I’ll remove your email address from my list upon request.t.
