Host of radio show on police brutality gives his perspective on the how and why of four police officers slain on duty in Alberta.
Produced by james Booker and Julie Chadwick
A show on community radio station CKLN called 'Bad Cop No Donut!' has been in the Canadian press lately because of an accusation of 'hatemongering' by Toronto police chief Julian Fantino.
We're joined by Ron Anicich, who hosts and puts together the weekly show of media stories and reports of police brutality, joins Elephant Talk to discuss the deaths of four policemen in Alberta.
The four policemen were on duty and sent to repossess a man's truck when they were shot dead by the man, who also had marijuana plants growing on his property. Politicians have since been calling for tougher sentences against marijuana grow-ops.
Ron explains why escalating a war always leads to more casualties, and how the so-called 'War on Drugs' is absolutely no different.
He also delves why the police may be ill-equipped to deal with mental illness and the consequences that has.
