SEGMENT 7/14

* Justice for Mohamed Anas Bennis; demo report by En Profendeur

On December 1, 2005, Mohamed Anas Bennis left a neighbourhood mosque, just minutes from his home in Cote-des-Neiges and was shot and killed by Montreal police in still unexplained circumstances. The mystery and secrecy surrounding this case reinforces the belief by many in the Montreal community that Mohamed Anas Bennis was killed by police in a case of racial profiling. The following audio is by En Profondeur from the January 7, 2006 demonstration, attended by thousands, to denounce Anas death. (11:52; French)

* Organizing against the proposed casino near Point St-Charles; a report by En Profondeur

The community of Point-St-Charles, a poor working class area of Montreal, mobilized against a proposed casino in the area. Sophie Toupin of En Profondeur reported community efforts against the casino on February 23, 2006. (16:44; French)
