Sue Collis speaks at McGill University about the criminal charges and lawsuits facing Shawn Brant resulting from his participation in blockades of CN rail lines and the quarry occupation.
charlieo, ckut news,
Sue Collis is a resident of the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory and the wife of Shawn Brant. She has been an active organizer with the Ontario Coalition Against Povery.

Shawn Brant is a spokesperson for the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. He was recently released for prison, and living under restrictive bail conditions. He is facing various criminal charges and civil lawsuits resulting from his participation in various community actions, mostly related to long-standing land claims. For more information about how to support Shawn Brant, visit this website: http://ocap.ca/taxonomy_menu/1/11

Sue Collis' speech was organized by the Quebec Public Information Research Group at McGill University (QPIRG McGill). It was part of a series of events called Culture Shock!, dedicated to exploding the myth of happy multi-culturalism in Canada. http://ssmu.mcgill.ca/cultureshock

Part 1 is a recording of Sue's presentation, in which she speaks about Shawn's bail conditions, his role in the shutdown of the quarry in Tyendinaga and other community organizing.

In Part 2, she responds to questions about the positive results of economically disruptive actions, connections between the Tyendinaga and other First Nations communities, and about the current status of the civil lawsuits against Shawn and other community members.
