In 2008, 53 volunteer programmers were 'fired' from campus-community radio station CKLN 88.1 FM in Toronto without explanation.
On March 11th of 2009 and marking International Women's Day, the 'fired' programmers, including the hosts of CKLN's only feminist programs, as well as many other womyn, trans and queer, activist and marginalized supporters streamed onto the internet to reclaim the lost airwaves. This 5-hour broadcast features voices and stories otherwise silenced in the mainstream.
