A report on the 2008 Camp for Climate Action at Kingsnorth coal-fired power station in Kent including interviews with some of those involved in some of the associated direct actions.
Produced by Phil England for Climate Radio and ResonanceFM in London, England. Please drop me a quick note if you broadcast this programme at phil@switch-off.co.uk. Many thanks! www.climateradio.org www.resonancefm.com
With this year's Camp for Climate Action in London less than four weeks away we thought we'd revisit our report on last year's camp. It provides a window on the gaping gulf between mainstream reporting on the event and the reality of the Camp itself. And we'll follow later in August with some interviews with participants from this year's upcoming camp. So cast your mind back, if you will, as we rewind the clock twelve months to August 2008.

“A moratorium on coal-fired power plants without carbon capture and storage … should be the rallying issue for young people. It seems to me that [they] should be doing whatever is necessary to block construction of dirty coal-fired power plants” - Professor James Hansen, 8 July 2007

The programme is named after what is now believed to the safe level in parts per million (ppm) of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This finding is based on the work of James Hansen and his team in a paper titled "Target Atmospheric CO2: Where Should Humanity Aim." http://arxiv.org/abs/0804.1126
