In the first hour, Tony Walker, CEO of ComForcare Senior Services, shared with us the importance of non-medical in home care for seniors and persons with Developmental Disabilities. Mr. Watkins, a British citizen shared his love of the British Rock and Roll, and the Rolling Stones in particular.

Mr. Watkins went onto discuss the differences behind the British and American systems of health care and lively debate. He then went on to share debilitating signs of that may indicate a need for home health care followed by tips on how to approach a dear one in making the determination.

In the second hour, Sequoia and Jack Cheney, of Three Trees, spoke about the benefits of eating a healthy diet of uncooked fruits and vegetables. They spoke about the high quality nutrition that alkalizes the body, thereby assisting in proper digestion and providing a well-functioning immune system.

The benefits are increased energy, a reversal of chronic, often terminal illnesses and a greater sense of well-being. Sequoia shared with us numerous gourmet recipes and the ease with which to prepare the delecacies.

In the third hour, we spoke with Langdon Roberts and Stephanie Winn of New Earth Exchange, a membership network for local businesses committed to environmental sustainability and mutual-aid. It is a "bottom-up grassroots economics" that is sustainable and just. They spoke about the benefits of a local currency: and are in the process of creating a local currency that will kick-start our sluggish economy by increasing sales of local goods and services. The money stays in the community instead of disappearing to out-of-area banks and businesses. It cannot be used in chain stores on online ouotlets.

We learned that the alternative currency is entirely legal and would benefit the low income and underserved populations as well.

Please visit their websites at http://newearthexchange.ning.com/ and NewEarthExchange.com and sign up. There are links on the Ning site to other local currency projects. Please check out Bay Area Community Exchange at sfbace.org as well.
