Tonight's BSTF is a full-body immersion in the seminal works of the Firesign Theatre, with a tribute to Peter Bergman. I chose not to play obscurities-- Stang will be taking care of that on his own tribute show--rather, my focus tonight is on those seminal albums that launched me on the path of Firesign worship all those decades ago. My choices of material are the first and last cuts on the non-Nick Danger side of HOW CAN YOU BE IN TWO PLACES AT ONCE ("Antelope Freeway" and "We're Bringing the War Back Home"), with I THINK WE'RE ALL BOZOS ON THIS BUS sandwiched in the middle. My copy of BOZOS was so crackly I've spent the past two nights taking out the pops for five and six hours at a time--but it's worth it to guarantee the fidelity of these masterpieces. Once you hear them begin to unreel, those who soaked in this back then will feel their earworms stir from their too-long coiled slumber--and those who are hearing this for the first time--?
