ChildSavers has been serving the Greater Richmond region for almost 90 years, and they focus on 1) enhancing the quality of extant mental health and child development services and 2) implementing trauma-response therapy. Firstly, they offer consultation and training to assure high-quality childcare by developmental specialists and daycare institutions. Secondly, ChildSavers’ clinicians intercede at a scene of trauma affecting a child (like domestic violence or a house fire) within 30 minutes of being alerted by law enforcement or hospital partners. ChildSavers also offers trauma-resolving outpatient care by creating a safe environment, developing a customized treatment plan, involving the caretaker in the healing process, and utilizing play therapy to help the child work through their trauma memories and promote resilience and coping.
