In NYS Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a deal with Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation’s representative. Here is an audio interview about NYS Governor turning NYS land into Federal land under the guise of making a settlement deal with the Oneida Indian Nation. This would open up the land for fracking. Once the area is converted to federal it is not subject to NYS environmental regulations. The Interior Department estimates that 90 percent of the 3,400 wells drilled each year on public and Indian lands use hydraulic fracturing. This affects 56 million acres of Indian lands and 700 million acres of public lands.
