Former intelligence agent, Giraldi was interviewed immediately following Donald Trumpâs press conference and pointed to inconsistency in Trumpâs position but suggested that his more amicable approach to Russia runs up against the neocons and warmongers in both parties who have been pushing for a confrontation with Moscow, being still mired in the anti-Soviet mindset of a past generation.
The discussion centered on Giraldiâs article in Unz Review for Jan.10., âWashington Invented Hacking and Intervening in Elections.â
Giraldi notes that the size of Russiaâs economy is the same as that of Italy and whereas the US has hundreds of military bases all over the globe, Russia has one outside of its borders and thatâs in Syria.
He notes that in the name of âdemocracy promotionâ the US has overthrown legitimate governments, going back to Mosadegh in Iran in 1953, the real goal of which has been to serve US global interests. He points out that this has been the case in Latin America, Asia and Africa, as well.
Giraldi reviews the recent history of Ukraine and how the US supported coup against a legally elected government has brought into power ultra-right wing forces whose role the US pretended was minimal.
The discussion also covered the primary affection of the neocons being Israel and that their actions are usually taken to benefit what they perceive as Israelâs interest, referring back to PNAC necon Paul Wolfowitz who lobbied for overthrowing Saddam Hussein in the early days of the GW Bush administration, claiming that Saddam was paying off Palestinians who attacked Israelis.
