El Jones is a renowned poet, teacher and activist based in Halifax. She is former poet laureate of Halifax; teaches at St, Maryâs University in the Department of Sociology and Criminology; author of book of poetry, Live from the Afrikan resistance; author for Saturday Morning File for the Halifax Examiner; radio host of Black Power Hour Radio, where Prisoners perform poetry and rap on the radio and much more.
