This is a weekly half-hour segment of news from Palestine, and discussion of issues relevant to the Palestinians' struggle for freedom from Israel's brutal military occupation and colonization of their homeland.
Sherif Fam (associate producer) with the all-volunteer staff of "Truth and Justice Radio," broadcast nearly every Sunday 6-10am on WZBC 90.3FM, Newton, MA); webstream is at <wzbc.org>; the programs own website is <truthandjusticeradio.org>.
First we review some recent, increasingly sad, events, along with a list of ways we can become involved in the struggle for justice in the Middle East. Following that, our topic today is conflict resolution and peacemaking. It is no exaggeration to say that there is probably no person in the world better qualified to speak to these issues than Boston College Professor of Theology, Father Raymond Helmick. Father Helmick has made peacemaking his life's mission. His most recent book is "Negotiating Outside the Law: Why Camp David Failed," with an introduction by Jesse Jackson. For more than 20 years, Father Helmick has visited Palestine; maintained correspondence and spoken at length with the late PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat and the Fateh leadership; and more recently with the Hamas leadership, including the late Sheikh Yassin and Khalid Masha'al, Chairman of Hamas' political bureau in Damascus.
