Will the current US involvement in Columbia lead to another Vietnam? Few people are better prepared to answer that question than Peter Dale Scott. A veteran of the peace movement against the war on Vietnam he has analyzed US foreign involvement with special attention to the use of drugs and role of the CIA.

A former Canadian diplomat and English Professor at the University of California, Berkeley, Peter Dale Scott is the author of: "The Iran-Contra Connection" and "Cocaine Politics: Drugs, Armies, and the CIA in Central America"

Plan Colombia, Scott says, is not as a war on drugs, but a means to strengthen the Colombian army and police and to de-stabilize the northern tip of South America.

He spoke at a meeting of the Columbia Support Network in Berkeley in January 2001.
