The author of "Lies My Teacher Told Me" discusses the horrors of American History textbooks. They deny the realities of class conflict, present every public figure as a hero, suppress facts that might offend ANYONE, and try to turn students into flag-waving superpatriots. Loewen's examples are funny and damning. Then Carlin and Parenti take the argument further, showing how ill-educated citizens benefit their rulers.
