2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the world's worst oil spill (from the ship Exxon Valdez, in Alaska) & the 30th anniv. of America's worst nuclear reactor accident (at the Three Mile Island [TMI] power plant in PA). The corporations lied; people died or had their lives ruined; the Earth was poisoned; the perps went Scot-free; and the government protected corporate profits instead of people. Greg Palast speaks on the spill; I read from H. Wasserman on TMI.

Three Mile Island, 1979. Exxon-Valdez, 1989. 1999 had a different sort of energy disaster--Exxon and Mobil were allowed to merge, forming the world's largest corporation. I can't wait to see what disaster 2009 will bring. Maybe electric power plants--required to stop burning coal--will all switch to burning Depleted Uranium instead!
