This episode: when we don't want to do stuff about all the problems in our culture that we're aware of, or reject trying out options to get us going, is that really our choice or was it given to us? Why did the Shriners "secret society" whose buses say "All Shriners Are Masons!" hold a "public" parade while acting silly, riding go-karts, decked out in ancient Egyptian gear? If they care about kids as much as they say they do, will they look into the "risks" of vaccines and more in the info-war?
CKLN Radios Rude Awakening Morning News Radio Show is currently hosted by Black Krishna (BK) Monday to Thursday from 6 - 7 am on CKLN 88.1 FM, Rogers Cable 947 or CKLN.fm online. "Diet, injections, and injunctions will combine, from a very early age, to produce the sort of character and the sort of beliefs that the authorities consider desirable, and any serious criticism of the powers that be will become psychologically impossible. Even if all are miserable, all will believe themselves happy, because the government will tell them that they are so."

- Bertrand Russell, The Impact of Science on Society pg 50, 1953

"Gradually, by selective breeding, the congenital differences between rulers and ruled will increase until they become almost different species. A revolt of the plebs would become as unthinkable as an organized insurrection of sheep against the practice of eating mutton."

- Bertrand Russell, "The Impact of Science on Society", pg 49-50, 1953

Shriners' tiny motorcycles and cars have big impact

10,000 Shriners take to the streets for annual Imperial Parade

[Ed note: Video footage can prove it was closer to 1000 people, so why does the Toronto Star choose to inflate the Shriners (or Freemasons) numbers 10-times while usually under-reporting the numbers of people at political protests?]

Jayme Poisson | Toronto Star | July 6, 2010

It all seemed a little silly, until Max showed up. About 10,000 aging Shriners decked out in their red fezes took to the streets in the baking heat Tuesday, closing University Ave. for their annual Imperial Parade. Some came dressed as clowns, full makeup and red noses. Others busted out arguably awkward dance moves to songs like Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” atop homemade floats. And many tried to beat the heat by whizzing around on miniature motorcycles, a clear challenge at times to keep from tipping right over. “We definitely all look silly,” said Oakville Shriners member Boe Hladysh, who joined the fraternity in Heidelberg, Germany, in 1969.

Toronto Timeline: A scorching afternoon for a Shriners parade

Cory Ruf | National Post | July 6, 2010

1:19 As expected, there is an abundance of vehicles that are too small for their drivers. Some are Go-Karts. Some are shaped liked magic carpets. Some are miniature John Deere tractors. Some are miniature Corvettes. All are ridiculous, yet oddly mesmerizing.

10,000 fez-head Shriners invade Toronto

[Ed note: Again with the "10,000" people, there weren't.]

Convention brings a much-needed dose of silly fun and generous spirit to downtown

Jasmeet Sidhu | Toronto Star | July 2, 2010

... Beyond the silly stunts and gimmicks, this not-so-secret society, which boasts 350,000 members worldwide (including 12 temples and 22,000 members in Canada) has a long history of supporting pediatric health care under the slogan: “Shriners, having fun and helping kids.”

[Ed note: VRAN.org is where we can learn about vaccine risks and get legal exemption form for kids, I wonder if they're interested in being consistent about this "we care for kids" stuff?]

Quirks

Fez: The rhombus-shaped, tasselled red hat named after a Moroccan city was adopted as the official headgear in 1872 and is the Shriners’ most distinctive feature. It’s intended to pay homage to the organization’s early fascination with Near East culture, a running theme in the Shriners’ dress, initiation rituals and iconography. Usually worn at meetings and in parades.

Initiation rituals: Shriners must first be Masons, part of a fraternity that claims roots in the stonemasons and craftsmen of the Middle Ages. You can apply once you become a Master Mason and are interested in injecting a new level of fun and silliness in your life. An initiation ritual called the “crossing of the burning sands” involves being blindfolded and told to cross over a stretch of hot burning sand. Crossing the sands, which are not hot, is construed as an act of courage and test of faith.

Landmarks

Some of Toronto’s oldest buildings and churches have a Masonic past.

The Shrine Memorial building, at Exhibition Place, was built to commemorate the 1930 Shriners Imperial Council Session held in Toronto and to celebrate the long peace between Canada and the United States. A fountain and gardens were installed in 1958, and the building was rededicated by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker.

A Masonic temple built early in the last century, at 888 Yonge St. near Davenport Rd., has since been turned into a TV studio, but is still often called “Masonic Hall.” The Toronto West Masonic Temple sits at 151 Annette St., and hosts several Masonic groups.

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Simcoe St. was sometimes thought to have been a Masonic lodge at one time, but that was because many members were Masons. The church itself had no affiliation.

Shriners History: This is the story of an organization that is as "American" as apple pie, despite its name, so don't let that name mislead you, for after all, what's in a name? Certainly not what's implied in the case of the Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine. The major resemblance, if any, of the Mystic Shrine of North America to any possible connection to organizations existing in Middle Eastern Europe back in the 6th Century is in its selection of names for its Temples; in its glamorous pageantry; in its colorful ceremonial and parade costumes and trappings, and in its return to early history for its ritualistic lessons. Mystery and uncertainty shroud the formation of virtually all secret societies and the Mystic Shrine of North America is no exception.

The origins and early development of Freemasonry are a matter of some debate and conjecture. A poem known as the "Regius Manuscript" has been dated to approximately 1390 and is the oldest known Masonic text.[6] There is evidence to suggest that there were Masonic lodges in existence in Scotland as early as the late sixteenth century[7] (for example the Lodge at Kilwinning, Scotland, has records that date to the late 1500s, and is mentioned in the Second Schaw Statutes (1599) which specified that "ye warden of ye lug of Kilwynning [...] tak tryall of ye airt of memorie and science yrof, of everie fellowe of craft and everie prenteiss according to ayr of yr vocations").[8] There are clear references to the existence of lodges in England by the mid-seventeenth century.[9]

The Lights Are Going Out For Free Speech On The Internet

Paul Joseph Watson | Prison Planet.com | July 6, 2010

... Secondly, and even more alarmingly, Lieberman’s acknowledgement that the United States is seeking to emulate China’s policies on Internet control confirm that the entire cybersecurity agenda is primarily concerned with silencing political opposition to the state, since this factor completely dominates the Chinese model which Lieberman openly invokes as the ultimate goal of cybersecurity.
