THIS YEARS NEWS STORIES WERE ABOUT THE PROVOCATIVE STATEMENTS MADE BY IRANS PRESIDENT MAHMOUD AHMEDINEJAD, ON THURSDAY, ABOUT CAPITALISM AND HIS QUESTIONING THE U.S. GOVERNMENTS ROLE IN THE 9/11 ATTACK AND ITS USE TO START A WAR ON TERROR, A COMMENT THAT CAUSED THE U.S. DELEGATION AND EUROPEAN NATIONS TO WALK OUT OF THE ASSEMBLY HALL IN PROTEST.
WITH IRAN UNDER U.N. ECONOMIC SANCTIONS FOR ITS NUCLEAR PROGRAM, PRESIDENT AHMEDINEJAD HAS BEEN REGULARLY PORTRAYED IN THE WESTERN PRESS AS AN ANTI-SEMITIC VILAIN PRONE TO MAKING OUTLANDISH STATEMENTS.
