Dean Lener, TENN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: "All Five Counties bordering Mississippi River, Memphis, Shelby County, much of low lying area in city of Memphis has some amount of flood water, people live there, local officials have gone around and asked them to evacuate their homes and they have helped people evacuate their homes. I'm not sure how many have left homes, Western Tenn. but there are other small towns where officials have also asked people to leave their homes. There has not been a mandatory evacuation order, but we do have officials going around and saying flooding is imminent.."
New Staging Center at Raleigh Springs Mall, Memphis... buses now available. Austin P and Yale Rd intersection. There you can find service center and register then get to shelter. Also in area predominantly near most of area evac. North Haven, Millington, Frasier, near mall, placed it in location where we are seeing most of the impact. Tennessee State of Emergency, Flood Water Continues to Rise, River Expected to Crest between Sunday, Mother’s Day, May 8th and Tuesday, May 10th.

State tells us Sat. May 7th, that emergency aid officials in Shelby County Tennessee will determine which shelters to open on Mothers Day, May 8th, as families are now packed and ready to go. Sunday will be a crucial day for those deciding whether or not to evacuate from the severe storms and flooding that has killed 23 people in Tennessee already.

SHELTER FOR SHELBY COUNTY, HERE There is also a shelter set up for pets.

The American Red Cross has opened a shelter at White Station Church of Christ in East Memphis at 1106 Colonial Road, there are also shelters in Obion, Lake, Dyer and Madison counties, as well as Tunica County in Mississippi. The Red Cross has also opened shelters in Crittenden County, Arkansas. To find out about shelters call your local officials or 211 to learn how.
