Stephen Gowans explains how U.S. foreign policy is a class war: the lives of ordinary Syrians are limited by the structure of globalization. They are put into a subordinate position in the global economy, as low-wage agriculture and basic industry.
Syria's government grew out of resistance to this subordination. It represents the values of the enlightenment more than the so-called 'civilizers' who are attacking it.
Gowans links his book on Syria to provocative activities against North Korea, and Trump's continuation of the imperialism of his predecessors.
