Lesley Williams, Head of Adult Services at the Evanston Public Library was met by a crowd of more than 50 supporters who rallied to her cause outside a hearing room ahead of a disciplinary hearing at the Evanston, Illinois Civic Center. Some thought the charges she was placed under suspension for actually masked other issues problematic to the community, the library board and the leadership of the current library Director, Karen Danczak Lyons. Others were incredulous as to the accusations made by Director Lyons who has herself been remote in relating to and meeting the needs of Evanston's Black residents according to a public letter written by Tiffany Rice of the Dajae Coleman Foundation. Both long time friends and Evanston new comers speak at random about their reasons for attending the rally which was organized on short notice.
