In January 2020, The City of Elk Grove, California became a compassionate city. At least on paper. During their January 8th meeting, the Sacramento suburb issued a proclamation advanced by a group called Compassionate Elk Grove.
But when given the opportunity to show their self-identify compassion and approve a supportive housing project, they succumbed to fear and ignorance.
