U.S. naval forces are heading towards Egypt: has anyone invited them? Phil Taylor interviews Islamic scholar and journalist Zafar Bangash about the uprising in Egypt. Zafar reviews the Egyptian government's responses to the protests, and the internal politics of the regime.
As Taylor mentions, "The U.S. is experienced at trying to rescue bad leaders." In fact, both at home and abroad, the U.S. seems to have a problem accepting equality and democracy.
The program also discusses an upcoming event, "Global Peace in the Age of Imperialism" taking place on February 12. In the second segment, Conlon and Taylor discuss Israeli author Uri Avnery's comments on Egypt.
