Weisbrot, recently in Spain, examines Eurozone crisis and how it is being taken advantage of by the European Central Bank to crush the unions and roll back long standing health and welfare benefits and the popular resistance to it. He points out that remedies that could ameliorate crisis such as the stimulus package used in the US would be more effective than pushing austerity but that is not the way the ECB, IMF and EU ‘troika’ want it. He notes that the crisis has had a negative effect on US economy since sales to Europe have fallen and that if it gets worse it can impact the US presidential election
